Take a CD or Two.

This is my last project for my Guest Designer Spot over at
Crafting With Dragonflies for the month of April.
The theme this time is to take an old CD and alter it /or use on your card.
I chose to make a card  mini album.
First thing was to find some CD's.
These  were old ones I had been saving in my Stash to be reused at some point.
I started with sorting  through my lace trims to get a colour theme going  and chose
to work with  Creams.
Next to look through my files of digi papers and finally my bling.

And then some more !!

I used the CD's as templates and cut my design papers to cover .
These are by Bearly Mine from their ' Steam punk -fantasy' range.
I used Mod  Podge to glue and a distress ink round the edges to age .
I found my pink Crop-A-Dile cutters worked a treat to cut the holes that I needed.
Next came the fun part,  piling on the embellishments.

I made pockets on the insides to hold tags by cutting half a circle and gluing to the lower halves.
Tags were made using my new Tag topper punch by SU. and tucked inside the pockets.
Wooden embellishments were in a selection I had purchased a few yrs ago and forgotten about!
Added loads of lace , assorted flowers, old broken jewellery and sequin shapes.

As the DP. had clock faces and fob watches on it
I found these freebie digi's on  Beyond The Fringe
and used them on the tags leaving the other sides blank for messages.

The back showing another freebie watch

Lastly the front with the CD's tied together with loads of scrunchy ribbon and chains
Not quite  sure whether I have achieved a vintage/shabby chic /steam punk or grungy look
but I love the result.
Pop on over to here to join in the fun.

Six more for Sarn.

It's time to make some more cards for Sarn's Rudolph challenge.
Sarn would like us to make at least two cards to enter the challenge.
I have been managing to make 6 each time based on a different theme.
Whilst making the card in the post below this one
I found another topper set with backing sheet included.
By careful cutting and placement I managed to make the following.

I had some oblong silver card blanks in my stash.
By cutting 3 in half  they were just the right size for these toppers.
Topper and background sheet  by My Paper Stash 'Winter Days/scene'
Sentiment  Tags by 'Anita's'.
Navy pearlescent paper, ribbons, pearls and gems from my stash.
None were snippets though so no visit to the play ground for me!

Won't Take a Moment!

Won't take a moment!
Well it certainly  didn't .
Rome wasn't built in a day and neither was this..
Colouring the image was the easy  part.
It was the fathing and fiddling  that took the time.
I wanted to enter a new challenge I found
The April challenge is a Christmas Robin and they provided the digi to be used.
I Found a backing card in my stash called 'Robin on a Perch'
by 'My Paper Stash' which I thought very similar to the image so I used
the same colours  with Promarkers and a gold gel pen.
Easy part done.
Next came the fathing and fiddling!
I used  Cheery Lynn Designs DL187 Kaleidoscope Lace Mega Doily die
To do the cut out shape.
As this die only comes as half a shape it is fine for doing the gate fold doors.
To cut a complete shape  though you have to cut one side, turn,
position second die cut to first cut and then die cut the second half.
Word sentiment cut using Britannia dies.
Coloured card stock and ribbon from stash.

Doors opened to reveal the inside.

Show and Tell Time.

It's time for another card over at the Christmas Card club I belong to.
The theme for #9 was chosen by Karen P. and is
Black and white + one other colour.
I have had this stamp for ages but not used as have been totally unsure how to colour.
When I saw Karen's Theme I had a light bulb moment.
Why not use the stamp as is.
i.e  black ink  on white card so I did!
Another firing on all plugs moment cos then I thought
why not colour the ivy green so I did!!
I'm on a roll by now .
Why not add a strip of ribbon and some ivy leaves. so I did.
Then to finish off mount onto green card. so I did.
Stamp is by Stampendous 'Snowy Postcard'
I have it's sister stamp 'Train Postcard' as well.
Stamped using Memento Tuxedo Black.
Coloured using 'Pine ' Promarker pen.
Cut out using Spell binders 'Romantiuc Rectangle'
Britannia word dies for the sentiment.

Inside finished off to match.

I have some more C. Cards coming up. One for a new challenge just spotted
and Sarn's Rudolph Day.

Take an Empty Drink Can

Take an old drinks can ,die cuts
and some alcohol markers and what do you get !!
I saw Mary do something wonderful with an empty soda  can on her blog
and filed it away for future use as I had an idea for using tin.
Skip forward a few months and I was ready to have a go myself.
I had carefully kept a couple of tins which I had washed out and left to dry.
Surprisingly, cutting them up was really easy.
The tin sheets went through my Big Shot with no problems too.

This is the result.
I wanted to make an anniversary card to depict 10yrs (tin).
The anniversary was yesterday and the card has been received
so I can  now show and tell.
DP is by Raspberry Road 'Ancient Age Collection no1.'
SU Card Stock for the Stepper card shape.
Britannia word die for the sentiments
Spellbinders 'Rose Creations Die for the flower and leaf.
Odd tassel found  on my desk .
(Not sure where it came from but waste not want not and it was the right colour!)
Promarkers used to colour the tin shapes once cut.

View showing Side Stepper shape , a new one for me.

Back view  for writing sentiment on.
Spellbinders 'Deckled Rectangles' Die.

Close up showing the distressed edges.
Using T.H. Distresser.
This is another gadget I have a love/hate relationship with.
I'm told I'm not rough enough  with it so this time I went to  town on it!

Take an old Picture Mount.

After I had made the  fabric Peacock picture the other day using an old picture frame
I was left with the discarded mount.
So I rounded up a few other items below to go with it.
Sequins, Glitter, Beadazzles, double -sided adhesive sheet,
Butterfly template(from Craft Stamper magazine Aug 2012)
and a used tester paint pot.

Several happy hours later (or as The Doc likes to call it 'Spud ling')
I came up with this!
A sequined butterfly picture.
I had cut the template out  from the adhesive sheet and peeled the backing paper off from one side.
I then sorted through the bag of sequins (£1 from Poundland) and picked out some that were matching so that each wing would be even and stuck  them on in a random pattern.
Spaces that were too small for a sequin were filled in using the Beadazzles.
Finally a liberal coating of fine glitter.
I then stuck the other side of the butterfly onto a sheet of navy pearlescent A4 card.
The mount was a bit scruffy so I gave it a freshen up with the tester pot in 'Natural Hessian'.
Adhered the  card to the back of the mount when dry.

Close up showing the butterfly detail.
I still have the glass left over from the picture frame but I have ideas for that too!!!
I made this to showcase my Butterfly Challenge #6

Would love to see you flutterby.

Poppies.

There is still time to enter my Butterfly Challenge.
The theme for #5 is Butterfly/flies + charm.
When I saw this digi on Fluffs blog I had to have it too!
I'm not a cutesy  person but do love poppies and this digi just spoke volumes to me.
Digi is from Tiddly Inks and you can find it here.
Coloured using Promarkers and Pearlescent chalks.
Cardstock from  SU.

Ribbon, thread and butterfly charm from stash.
Sentiment is Britannia Word die
Side panels are the poppy border  which comes with the digi.

Side view showing stepper design.

Border poppy used again inside card.
You can see my glaringly obvious mistake now
where the craft knife slipped, so had to cut two slits  out either side to correct.
I was so not going to waste the SU card.
Think I have gotten away with it and made a new style stepper!!

Christmas Lights.

Christmas lights or in my case Lamposts.
The theme chosen by Asha this time over at the Christmas Card Club
is Christmas Lights.
I remembered I had this digi  (don't think they exist anymore) so printed it out to have a play.
Had a rummage through my saved recycled cards and found a couple
of street  scenes that I thought  would work well.
Also found some card blanks that I had already cut  apertures  from.
Lampost digi is by 'Squiggle'  coloured using Promarkers.
Spellbinders Majestic elements used for aperture.
Everything else used  from stash.

inside of card again using Majestic Elements.
Sentiment reused  from old Card.

As I already had everything out on my desk I made another card.
Both scenes using old recycled C. Cards from stash.
Sizzix  scallop circles 657552 used to die cut  aperture.
Sentiment from another recycled card.
Gems from stash.

Inside  using Sizzix and Spellbinders die cuts.

Love Hearts.

I have show cased this on my Butterfly challenge #5
Here is how I made them.
First up though the ingredients.

Cardboard heart shapes. Purchased from NEC last Nov.
2ply torn kitchen towel, Mod Podge Tester pot paint
Inka  Gold.
Having covered the shapes  using the torn paper and glue.
I left to dry to harden.
Once dry a quick coating of paint ' Dusted Fondant'.
Left to dry again and then the Inka gold applied with a soft cloth.

Then the fun began decorating.
The lettering is part of a packet of Decorative wood Embellishments by Prima.
Sequins  are from 'Poundland'  a huge bag of mixed sizes and shapes.
This bag was the pink /mauve selection.
Hessian  was from  Docrafts bare basics range.

Butterflies are from the SU 'Papillon  Potpourri' stamp set.
Stamped onto snippets of white card coloured with Promarkers and hand cut out.

Gold coloured charm was from my stash of charms.
Chosen because it happened to match the cut out shape and continued the theme.

The finished  hanging plaque.

Decorated Easter Egg.

As part of my Win over at Crafting With Dragon flies  (#19 The doc's recycled whisky bottle)  I was invited to be the Guest Designer for April which I was  very pleased to accept.
The theme for  the first April challenge is:
Easter card or anything as long as it is Easter.

I have chosen to decorate an Easter Egg.
I used a cardboard shaped egg and a 2ply serviette.
I first covered the egg blank with the bottom sheet of the 2ply serviette torn into pieces.
I used Mod Podge for the gluing .
I then painted green with a test pot of acrylic paint .
Finally covered with the top sheet of the torn up serviette.
I cut the rabbit out separately and adhered him last.
Another coating of mod podge to seal and give a nice overall sheen to the egg.

Top and base are both the same rabbit design.

I attached the edging strip of the serviette to the edge of the bottom egg half.

I then raided my stash and went to town decorating.
I used
Lace, flowers, ribbon, beads, gems & pearls.

Side view of finished egg.

It wouldn't be Easter without the chocolate eggs inside!!

Popover here to join in all the fun.
