Just needs one more item.

Some butterfly pegs.

The pegs were the  prize that Vicki chose for her win on #2.
This was the box that they were sent in.

My Butterfly Challenge is running for 4 weeks

And another 6 bite the dust!

Rudolph time again over on Sarn's blog where she would like us to make at least 2 cards .
I have kind of set my own bench mark of making 6 cards.
(Whose daft idea was that then!).
Looking through my hoarded stash I found a topper sheet of Robin's to use.
The silver card blanks were in my stash as well but  were originally oblong.
By cutting 3 in half it gave me 6 smaller cards to play with.
The topper sheet is by My Paper Stash 'Robin on a Perch'.
Sentiments are Anita's black Glitterations and Message tags.
Design papers are all snippets in my stash.
Blue/silver stars by Alison Butler.
Red/white stripped holly by Holly Hobby.
Silver snowflakes paper sent by my friend Barbara in America.
Others  were freebies and of unkown origin.

Bows, ribbon pearls and gems from my stash.

Follow That Star!

Here is  a transcript of a conversation. I had with The Doc last week.
I was busy weeding out in the garden(or as The Doc likes to put it digging holes)
When he stuck his head round the back door waving something in the air saying.
'You don't want this before I chuck it do you? It's broken and the sucker doesn't work  so no point in keeping it any more!
In the nano second or two that it took to register what the heck he was on about and see the object in question I had a light bulb moment and said
'Yes please I have an Imminent use for that'
'Rather thought you might say that 'came the resigned reply.
'I'll leave it on your desk then '
What was the object in question?
A plastic resin  suction hook for using when on holiday in hotel bathrooms when you need an extra or in most cases even just one place to hang your towel or bath robe from.
The suction cup fails to work after a while and won't stick to the tiles . The Doc had already removed that bit and the metal hook part and this was what was left.
'I can't take the  screw out of the centre cos it's set in the resin ' he said 'So you will have to work round that'.
'Not a problem ' I replied.
Here ia picture of the before . This is the front.

And this is the back showing the screw thread.

Here is what  I made .

I made a simple side opening card which ties closed with bakers twine.
The star was given a coating of tester pot paint 'Natural Hessian'
Then given a liberal coating of Imagination Crafts Sparkling medium in 'Champagne'.
Mounted to front of card using a double layer of 3D sticky pads. (to cushion the screw)
Card stock is fom SU.

Image is by Digi Stamps 4 Joy.
Comes free if you enter their challenge using it.
Finished inside of card.
The star is a stamp that came free with the magazine 'Craft Stamper'  Oct 2011.

Lets Go Tartan

The Theme for this fortnights
Christmas Card Club is a recipe
set by Zoe who is asking for
A Button
3 Brads
Ribbon
and one other accessary .

This is what I pulled out from my stash to use.
I have assumed that the backing paper is not part of the recipe list.
The large button has been on  my desk for ages.
I remembered  that I had some  unused Christmas brads.
I don't have much Christmas ribbon but I pulled out this tartan one.
The wooden Joy embellishment is my other item made by Dovercraft.

Then I just had a play and came up with this.

I coloured the joy with a red Promarker and covered with Glossy accents.

I have a friend who is tartan mad. Most of the accessories
in her home are tartan so I generally make her a tartan themed card.
As I hand deliver I don't have to worry about keeping flat either!!

Butterfly with Doily Stencil.

It's the 2nd week of my Butterfly Challenge.
Theme is to use a doily + your butterfly on your project.
Here's what I have made  for further  inspiration for you.

Take one plastic doily stencil.
This was a gift sent to me so have no makers name .

I had a picture from my first art class which was the obligatory
Still life Apple which you can see here.
Time to repurpose I think
I gave the canvas a good coating of  'Blue Babe' tester pot paint to cover.
Placed the stencil where I wanted it and then used a pencil to draw round the lines.
Removed the stencil and filled in using  'Enchanted Eden'  tester pot.
'Bullrushes'  panel stencil is by  Imagination crafts.
Again I drew through  the design with a pencil and then filled in using
Josonja's  'Burnt Umber' acrylic artist paint.
Butterfly is by Dufex decoupage topper in fine metallic.
I purchased my sheets from Pinflair.

Close up of butterfly which is really pretty.
I have purchased several sheets of these as prizes.
Hope I have inspired you to join in this time.

The Doc's Card.

It was The Doc's Birthday yesterday
and this is the card I made for him.
He has several loves in his life and it would be fairly safe to say
that his car is one of them!
So I went off in search of a digi that would be suitable to use .
It took me 2 days trawling the web but I eventually found
this Audi digi  (a perfect replica of his car).

Centre stepper card made from Kraft card
(Without the craft knife slipping this time!!)
Digi  designed by 'Eva Cano' Craftsuprint.
Coloured using Promarkers and silver gel pen.
Dovercraft textured cardstock used  for the layering.
Britannia word dies for the sentiments.
I used wooden embellishments from Crafty Embellies
coloured with a silver pen to make the hub wheels.

I added the number plate afterwards along with the wording inside.

Watch The Birdie

It's time again for the midway reminder for the
The Sponsor for the current challenge is:

The theme is as usual Anything goes................. but no cards.
We would be delighted to see you so please come on over and join in the fun.

I have used 2 stamps by Crafty Individuals which have been
in my stash for quite some time as I haven't really  known how to use them.
However when I did the black/white train card with just a hint of colour
and saw how well it looked I decided to  have a go
creating a wall hanging using the same idea.

I needed bases  for the wall hanging and these two bits of card
cut from a food packaging box (which were in my stash for a rainy day)
came to the rescue !!
I thought they made good frames and only needed trimming down slightly.
CI - 179
I stamped on white card using Memento Tuexedo Black and cut to fit the frames.
I used just 3 colours of Promarkers to fill in some of the white spaces.
Then went to town on the bling.
The butterflies were originally pink  card but the wrong colour
so I re coloured with a Promarker and a little pearlescent chalk.
CI 180
Pearls and green paper cord from my stash along with the bling.

The finished hanging.

Double Z -Fold Card

Time to show another card for the Christmas Card club I have joined.
The theme this time has  been set by Karen B and is
Poinsettias .
I fancied have a go at another new card shape .
I have not done this one before and found it very easy.
The only variation I did was to add a belly band for the closure.
I  also used A4 Card so did a miner  adjustment to the fold measurements.
See I said it was easy peasy!
I used SU card stock for my base and used the tutorial above.
DP. is from Holly Hobbie's Christmas collection.
Here is the card closed with the belly band in place.
Sentiment is a Britannia word die.

The Back decorated with part of the inside digi with room for a greeting.

Digi is by Digi Darla
'Poinsettia Vase.'
They seem to have now closed as the link I had is no longer available.
Coloured with Promarkers, Pearlescent chalks and gold gel pen.

Close up of the vase of flowers.
I had to stick  a couple of fallen leaves at the base of the pot!
I use a spare piece of paper for testing the Promarker colours
but inadvertently used the card I was colouring instead and
just as I was putting the last finishing touches by filling in the vase colour too.
No way was I colouring in the whole digi again!!!

Disaster averted.
